The Jungle Update for Rust brings a completely new biome, new animals, monuments, weapons and many improvements for the survival experience.
We summarize all the contents of the update for you in detail.
Contents
New jungle biome
The centerpiece of the update is the new jungle biome. You can expect dense, lush vegetation with unique trees that make exploring and hiding in the undergrowth even more exciting. The biome stands out visually and playfully from the previous regions.

Climbable trees and lianas
In the jungle, you can now climb trees and swing through the air on lianas. This vertical gameplay opens up completely new possibilities for movement, escape and surprise attacks. The lianas can be used in a targeted manner to quickly overcome heights or avoid enemies.

New river and water landscapes
The rivers in the jungle have been redesigned: They are now longer, wider and deeper. Many rivers have to be swum through, making progress in the jungle more challenging and tactical. The underwater visuals have also been improved and new effects have been introduced for rivers and lakes.

New animals: tigers, crocodiles, panthers and snakes
- Tigers, crocodiles and panthers: each species has its own mechanics and prey. Tigers and panthers are particularly aggressive, crocodiles lurk on riverbanks.
- Snakes: They attack surprisingly and leave behind snake venom as well as meat, which can be used for new crafting recipes.
New monument: Ziggurat
The Ziggurat is the central monument in the jungle. It is a large ruin that houses valuable loot and a recycler. The complex is multi-storey and offers numerous hiding places and climbing paths – ideal for PvP battles and risky raids.

More jungle ruins and new cave systems
In addition to the Ziggurat, there are numerous smaller ruins and new cave systems in the jungle. These locations offer additional loot opportunities and invite exploration. Some of the caves are branched and offer new building and hiding places.

New weapons: Boomerang and blowpipe
- Boomerang: A versatile throwing weapon that returns after being thrown and can hit multiple targets.
- Blowpipe: Uses four different types of arrows, including poison arrows – ideal for silent attacks and taking out animals or enemies from ambush.
New movement options
With the climbable trees and vines, you can now move through the jungle vertically as well as horizontally. Swinging on vines and climbing trees provide more dynamics and new tactics in combat and exploration.

New buff system: Hunter Vision
The “Big Cat Pie” buff gives you the new “Hunter Vision”. This allows you to track animal tracks: Red tracks indicate aggressive animals, white tracks passive animals. The system helps you to target prey or avoid dangerous animals.

Improvements to the Rust Workshop
Ambient Occlusion and Specular Maps for all skinnable weapons, clothing and deployables provide more realistic lighting and glow effects.
Corrected meshes: Position, scaling, rotation and pivot of many models have been revised.
Fixes for weapon models: UV fixes, visible arrows and third-person sights make skins and models more consistent.
Transparency support for boxes
The Wood Storage Box and the Large Wood Box now support transparency in the interior. This gives the boxes a more modern look and skins can be designed even more creatively.
Improved underwater visuals and new effects
A lot has been done not only on land, but also underwater: The visuals and effects for rivers and lakes have been revised, making diving and swimming more atmospheric.
Quality-of-Life improvements for Skin Artists & Workshop
- Time-of-Day pause and skybox rotation for better presentations
- Bug fixes for normal maps and item visibility
- Optimized tools and workflows for Skin Artists
Minor gameplay changes
- Chickens: The Sunlight stat now increases faster, which makes breeding easier.
- Bread: Now heals over time instead of instantly.
- Leather Gloves: No longer require a Sewing Kit and have been removed from the Tech Tree.
- Holosight Reflection: Fixed a bug with the reflection.
- Improved third-person models and skin visibility.
- Improved projectile collision detection when throwing.
With the Jungle Update, Rust not only brings a fresh, challenging biome to the game, but also expands the survival experience with numerous new mechanics, weapons and comfort features. Whether PvP, PvE or creative building: New adventures await you in the jungle!
