Stress Test on Sunday: All the important info
The Killing Floor 3 Network Stress Test will take place on Sunday, July 13, 2025 and allows Steam users to test the game before the official launch. The event is divided into two sessions, offering a total of four hours of playtime.
Times of the stress test
- Session 1: 19:00 – 21:00 (CET)
- Session 2: 23:00 – 01:00 (CET, Monday night)
Participation in the stress test
Participation is free and takes place via Steam. Interested parties simply need to visit the Killing Floor 3 store page and click on “Request access”. After being selected by the developers, participants will receive a notification and can download the game.
Important note: The developers ask that you do not stream or record gameplay during the test to ensure server stability.
Focus on network testing
The primary purpose of the stress test is to check the network infrastructure before launch. Tripwire Interactive is aware that there are still a number of problems, including performance stability, zed behavior and player movements, which will be resolved with the highest priority before release.
Current release status: After a bumpy beta for the July launch
Killing Floor 3 is currently experiencing a turbulent development phase. Originally scheduled for March 25, 2025, the game had to be postponed after disastrous beta tests. Now the new release date has been set: July 24, 2025 for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
New features following community feedback
The development team has used the extra time to respond to the massive community feedback. The most important planned improvements include
- Decoupling character and perk class: players will soon be able to choose their Nightfall Specialist regardless of their chosen class
- Improved third-person animations and movement
- Implementation of a text chat system for server communication
- Reworked weapon feel and combat mechanics
Delays and problems: A rocky road
The development of Killing Floor 3 was not without its difficulties. After a heavily criticized beta in spring 2025, which attracted negative attention mainly due to performance problems, poor weapon feel and a disappointing user interface, the original release date was postponed in March.
The developers responded to community feedback and used the additional time to make targeted improvements to key weaknesses such as stability, the combat system and the UI.
The postponement was welcomed by many players, as it increases the chance of a successful successor to the series.
Future of the series: Between tradition and innovation
Killing Floor 3 relies on proven co-op gameplay, but also brings fresh features such as cross-play, vertical levels and extensive customization. Whether the new features and improvements will be enough to convince fans and newcomers alike will become clear when the game is released on July 24, 2025.
